Passion World Tour ‘08: Destination Manila
Passion will be here in Manila on August 1, 2008! Louie Giglio, the leader of Passion will be here to give talks
and conduct some teaching time with thousands of students and youth leaders from universities and colleges. Chris Tomlin will also be here to lead the Praise and Worship!
This Passion Conference/Concert will be held at the Ultra Stadium in Pasig City. Bad news is, IT WON’T BE FREE. But the good news is, IT WON’T BE EXPENSIVE EITHER like some other Praise and Worship teams on tour. Ticket prices are not final yet, but based on the meetings last May 12th, the organizers are intent on making it affordable for students but at the same time, it would be something of value to them.
As the outgoing National President of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship of the Philippines (UMYFP), I attended a meeting with the Passion team members who were in the Philippines for coordination and preparation. Earlie, the incoming National President of the UMYFP, was very instrumental in establishing connection with True Love Waits Philippines, which in turn led to the connection with Passion.
For the uninitiated, Passion started in 1997 with the vision of seeing revival in colleges and universities in the United States and in the world. The headquarters of Passion is in Alpharetta, GA. They are committed to preaching about Jesus Christ and ministering to more than 16 million college students in the US and all over.
The website of Passion is named 268 Generation. Why 268?
Passion has adopted Isaiah 26:8 to be their battle cry.
Yes Lord, walking in the way of Your truth we wait eagerly for You, for Your name and renown are the desire of our souls.
Here’s what their website says:
“Passion seeks to gather college and university students across the nation and around the world to seek the face of God, asking Him to ignite in our souls a passionate pursuit of Jesus Christ and a desire to spread His fame to everyone on earth.
We believe God is calling out a generation of college students committed to the glory of His name in all things. God longs to bring awakening to every campus, mobilizing the students of today to finish the task of global evangelization in this generation. God is calling us out for this purpose, in this moment, for His renown.”
Passion promotes the 268 Declaration, which consists of five statements and prayers that are meant to affirm a student’s dedication to Christ and a commitment for evangelism and transformation. You can read the 268 Declaration here.
